WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - UNCW is closing its mainstage production season with an odd play called Ubu Rex by David Copelin.

Ubu Rex is a close translation of Alfred Jarry's original work, Ubu Roi.

It's a bizarre and comedic story of the fight for power in Poland. Pa Ubu's wife persuades him to usurp the king, and he finds himself in a battle for the crown.

The cast says the absurdist nature of the play shouldn't make you think too hard.

"If you think about it, we have lost you and we are not doing our job, so it keeps you on your toes for 75 minutes straight," said actor Gary T. Moore. "It's going to be quirky. It's going to be an hour and 15 minutes of non-stop entertainment to say the least. There's no time to think about what's going on, and I think everyone needs that every once in a while."
