Victim identified in Patrick Avenue shooting

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A man was shot and killed late Tuesday night while driving along a North Richmond street.

Police identified the victim as D'Shaun A. Bethea, 31.

Bethea was found in the 3700 block of Patrick Avenue. Detectives believe he was shot, drove a few blocks, and then hit a parked car.

Detectives combed the area Wednesday morning to find out what led up to the shooting. The victim was the only person in the car at the time of the shooting, according to officers.

The driver of that van stayed on the scene. Police say the woman was already dead when they got to the scene. The driver is not facing charges at this time. The investigation continues, as police work to notify the victim's family.
