SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) – Officials say a lightning strike caused a fire that destroyed a home early Tuesday morning in Southport.
According to Southport Assistant Fire Chief Todd Coring, crews from Southport Police and Sunny Point Fire were called to the house around 12:30 a.m.
No one was home when the fire started, and no one was hurt.
Officials say the home is a total loss.
