Traffic accident knocks out power, sends 4 to hospital

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Emergency crews responded to an accident Thursday at the intersection of Oleander Drive and Greenville Loop Road that knocked out power to the traffic lights.

The accident involved two vehicles: a red Dodge Charger and a white van. Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

According to Randy Burton of the Wilmington Fire Department, electrical crews will have to replace a power pole that was damaged in the accident. A traffic light was also damaged and has been replaced.

Traffic is slow-moving through the intersection.
