Cleveland Police Officer guilty of rape and kidnapping

Gregory Jones, a former Cleveland Police Officer, has been found guilty of rape and kidnapping. 

On July 13, 2012, Jones, 48, sexually assaulted a 34-year-old woman from Chicago. The victim was visiting friends at their Ohio Avenue home in Cleveland where she met Jones through a friend. 

As they left, Jones asked the victim if she would like a tour of the city and they stopped at his home. They went inside and Jones sexually assaulted her. 

The victim walked back to her friends house and they transported her to the hospital where a rape kit was performed. 

Jones was arrested August 9, 2012 and pleaded not guilty. He was suspended without pay during the investigation. 

A sentencing date for Jones has not been set.
