RALEIGH, N.C. - Gov. Pat McCrory declared March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day to honor North Carolina's Vietnam War veterans and those who lost their lives in the conflict.

The state last a total of 1,609 service men in the Vietnam War with 43 from the state still listed as “Missing in Action.”

"We honor the sacrifice of thousands of North Carolinians who served in and paid the ultimate price in Vietnam," said McCrory.  "The Vietnam War came with a high price for our state and country. North Carolina will continue to pursue policies that honor the sacrifices they made in service to the American people."
