PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Deputies with the Pender County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged a man after he tossed cocaine out of his vehicle following a traffic stop.
According to the Pender County Sheriff's Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Torrey Tremayne Frederick Wednesday on Highway 412, north of Wards Corner. After initially stopping for officers, Frederick refused to roll down his window to communicate with the officers. He then drove away, nearly running over one of the deputies.
Deputies pursued Frederick and as he fled, he started throwing cocaine out of his vehicle into the roadway, according to officers.
Frederick was stopped shortly after he threw the drugs out of the vehicle and was then taken into custody.
He's being charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, manufacturing cocaine, driving while license is revoked, reckless driving to endanger, felony flee/elude arrest, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, and speeding.
Frederick is being held in the Pender County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
