First Alert Weather: classic spring pattern - warm weather and a storm risk

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Classic spring forecast! A storm system will bring shower and thunderstorm chances to the area this weekend. A pleasant high pressure system will follow it for the early and middle portions of next week.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Balmy south breezes (generally 10 to 20mph) will bring moisture for scattered to numerous showers (isolated thunderstorms possible) and also keep temperatures from falling much (expect lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s).

SATURDAY:
While not a complete washout, expect scattered to at times widespread showers and thunderstorms. * Some storms may have heavy precipitation and strong gusty winds. Stay weather-aware! * Highs: 70s.

SUNDAY: After Friday and Saturday rain totals in the 1 to 2-inch range in some cases, only a few leftover showers could dot the area for the latter half of the weekend. Also expect: variable clouds, cool northwest breezes, and highs mainly in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

A PEEK INTO NEXT WEEK: A pattern warming temperatures will emerge with daytime temperatures likely regularly reaching the 70s (locally 80s?) by midweek. Rain chances: near 0% for Monday through Wednesday, 30 to 40% for Thursday and Friday.
