FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) – A proclamation concerning your wardrobe has been signed by Kentucky's governor.
In honor of the battle on the hardwood between the University of Louisville Cardinals and University of Kentucky Wildcats in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, Gov. Steve Beshear placed his John Hancock on the document officially declaring March 28 "Blue and Red Day."
In a press release from Gov. Beshear's office he was quoted as saying, "This Friday, intra-state rivals UK and UofL are matching up to play one of the most anticipated games of the NCAA tournament so far. In Kentucky, this means there will be heated divide between fans of both teams - one that can pit neighbors, friends and even families against each other. To honor the teams' talents and fans' passion, I'm proclaiming Friday as ‘Blue and Red Day' in the Commonwealth. Best of luck to the Cats and the Cards on a great game!"
The Cats and Cards are scheduled to tip off at 9:45 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. To view the official proclamation, click here.
