The cast performs a scene from "Rude Bitches Make Me Tired."
The show is adapted from a book by local author Celia Rivenbark.
The show runs at TheatreNOW through April 26.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - TheatreNOW is performing a stage adaptation of local author Celia Rivenbark's latest book.
Rivenbark's writing is known for its southern sass, and in this latest installment she takes on the blunders of modern society with some lessons on etiquette.
Zach Hanner with TheatreNOW adapted Rude Bitches Make Me Tired for the stage.
"I kept the heart and soul of what the book is and that is really a wonderful sense of humor about contemporary etiquette or lack thereof," said Hanner. "And I love the way Celia calls out this bad behavior with some naughty words of her own."
Several actresses take the audience through how to act in any situation, from dinner parties to long flights.
"It reads sort of like maybe an episode of The Daily Show or Saturday Night Live or a news segment," said Hanner. "So everyone kind of works together. It's a fast-moving show, but everyone gets a chance to shine in their own way."
"It's kind of mind blowing really," said Rivenbark. "I've never had anything adapted for the stage before, so it's really exciting to see these wonderful actresses bring these words to life and make them ever so much funnier."
