CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Construction to a new ramp at Freeman Park was finished ahead of schedule in anticipation of one of the town's busiest holiday weekends.

A new wooden "Hatteras" ramp was built at the park's entrance to provide a solid driving surface in an effort to alleviate backups during peak times.

The ramp begins at the end of the existing pavement and extends north 320 feet along the narrow entryway between the dunes where most of the congestion problems occur.
