WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A woman had to be cut out of a car after a multiple vehicle accident on Masonboro Loop Road Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened near the bridge that passes over Whiskey Creek, near the Wilmington City Limits. The road was closed as emergency officials worked to help those involved.
Our photographer on the scene said one woman was extracted from an SUV using the jaws of life. She was then taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center for her injuries which are non-life threatening, according to Trooper Hank Middleton of the NC Highway Patrol.
Middleton said a black Toyota SUV was headed southbound, away from the Wilmington City Limits, when the vehilce drifted over the center line and hit an Isuzu SUV head on.
A total of four people, including two children, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. An investigation is under way by the NC Highway Patrol as to why the vehicle crossed the center line.
