WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A developing coastal low will bring: rain, breezy conditions, and chilly weather for Tuesday. The weather should slowly improve for the rest of the week. Watch out for a hard freeze Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
MONDAY NIGHT: Clouds will increase overnight as a coastal low takes shape off of the north Florida coast. We could see come coastal showers develop after 3 AM. Lows will bottom out in the upper 30's.
TUESDAY: The coastal low will strengthen rapidly as it slides northward, several hundred miles offshore. Rain is likely for much of the day and it will be very breezy with a stiff north wind. Highs will range from the 40s near I-95 to mid 50s near the coast. Any wintry precipitation in NC will be confined to the Triad and mountains. Showers will quickly wind down Tuesday evening. Lows will again dip into the mid 30s.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny and cold with highs near 50. We could see a freeze Wednesday night with high pressure moving overhead. Skies will be clear with lows in the upper 20s to near 30. Protect your plants!
THURSDAY: As the high slides offshore we will see a southerly wind develop. Highs will warm to around 60 under mostly sunny skies.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY: Warm but unsettled. Friday and Saturday will feature plenty of clouds and good chances for showers and maybe thunderstorms on Saturday. Highs will reach the mid 70s. Lows moderate into the 50s. Sunday is trending partly sunny and dry with highs in the low 70's.
