First Alert Weather: Colder and wetter weather ahead

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Showers chance will increase during the day Sunday as a cold front settles to our south and offshore. Highs will cool back into the 60's.  Tuesday: a cold and wet storm system will track near the Carolina Coast. Details...

SUNDAY: With the passage of the cold front, winds initially south will turn north late (6 to 12mph speeds). Skies will be variably cloudy and the shower risk will stay around 50%, mainly late in the day into Sunday evening. Temperatures will likely crest in the mid 60s but a few spots could eek-out 70 if the front is slightly delayed.

NEXT WEEK: Monday will likely be mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the 50s. That storm system will likely bring a rainy and raw Tuesday with temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s - ouch. Post-storm: expect a brighter Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 50s and 60s, respectively. Sub-freezing temperatures will be possible Wednesday night.
