Pender County, NC (WECT) - The Pender County School Board now says the superintendent did no wrong when it comes to being available to Pender County Commissioners.

In an interview last week, Pender County Commissioner Jimmy Tate told WECT.com he was promised if he didn't run for School Board, he would still be able to have meetings to discuss issues brought to him by citizens.  At that time he said he had difficulty setting those meetings up with Dr. Cobb.

During a special School Board meeting last night, the School Board unanimously agreed that Superintendent Dr. Cobb "handled the situation appropriately".

In a statement they said quote:

The Board has reviewed the text and email correspondence between Dr. Cobb and Commissioner Tate and has concluded that Dr. Cobb responded promptly and cooperatively to Commissioner Tate's requests for a meeting.  Dr. Cobb has continued to offer meeting times to Commissioner Tate. We are eager to develop and maintain strong ties with our Board of County Commissioners.  Local funding provided by County Commissioners is critical to the success and growth of our school district.  Bond funding is critical to provide space for our growing number of students.  It is vital that we have good communication with Commissioners so that we can discuss and explain these needs and understand their concerns.
