BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport has now started a major renovation project.
According to a news release, the hospital plans to give the medical/surgical inpatient care unit an overhaul.
The project will add 6,000 square feet to the facility and include 25 patient rooms.
The upgrades will cost more than $11 million and should be complete in just over a year.
"This construction project is long overdue, has been greatly anticipated," said Tom Siemers, Dosher Hospital president and CEO. "It will allow us to dramatically enhance the quality of inpatient care we provide to the community we serve. It's just one of the many things we at Dosher Memorial Hospital are currently doing to achieve our mission of becoming the friendliest, most patient-focused hospital in North Carolina."
Patients have been relocated to another part of the hospital while construction takes place.
