ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WECT) – The East Bladen football team big winners, and they didn't even play a game.
This week the Eagles giving 100 pair of football pants care of the Carolina Panthers. Eagles head coach Robbie Priest wrote a grant, and East Bladen was selected as one of the winners from North and South Carolina.
"This was the first grant I had ever written so I feel pretty lucky to win it. I did have a lot of help from current and former teachers as well as personnel from our Board of Education. Let's just say they helped me sound really good once it was a finished product. We are blessed and extremely excited" said Priest.
This is the second time the program has received free equipment. Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Desmond Bryant and his family donated athletic equipment to Bryant's alma mater East Bladen.
Bryant supplied the football team with medicine balls, tackling sleds, power bands, parachutes and other Nike Sparq equipment.
