Suspected Sierra Vista drug kingpin arrested

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Police say they've taken down the organizer of a large drug business operating out of Sierra Vista, as part of a collaborative investigation called Operation Bowtie. 

During the arrest,officers recovered two and half pounds of methamphetamine, more than $10,000 in cash and a gun.

John Thomas Jordan, 32, is charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, transport of dangerous drug for sale, prohibited possession of a firearm and misconduct involving a firearm.  Jordan is in the Cochise County Jail on $500,000 bond. 

Operation Bowtie launched last August.  So far, authorities say it has resulted in eight drug related arrests.Officers have also recovered more than four pounds of methamphetamine and 175 grams of heroin with a total street value of $212,000.  

In addition to Jordan's arrest, other drug-related arrested made during the operation are: Rebecca Gunning, Sky Mansfield, James Durand, David Luna, Jeff Johnson, Trinidad Martinez and Denise Bear. Durand and Luna both pled guilty and received 15 year sentences. Gunning also pled guilty and received 5 years.

The operation combined the efforts of officers from the Sierra Vista Police, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Drug Enforcement Agency, Douglas office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from the Department of Homeland Security, and Border Patrol agents.
