CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Officers and detectives with the Carolina Beach Police Department are investigating a shooting that happened on the island Wednesday.

According to police, authorities executed a search warrant to a home in the 400 block of Cape Fear Blvd. and found Jesse Cayson inside with a handgun pointed at his own head.

Officers order the Cayson to drop the weapon, but he shot himself in the head. Cayson was rushed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. Police said Cayson will be charged with conspiracy to Sell/ Deliver Schedule II Narcotics, Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling for Sale/Use, and Possess Drug Paraphernalia at a later date.

Carolina Beach Police arrested another person at the home. Kelly Jiggetts, 43, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to sell/deliver Schedule II Narcotics, Maintaining a Dwelling for Use/Sale, Misdemeanor Child Abuse , Possess Marijuana, and Posses Drug Paraphernalia.

A third individual was charged later after surrendering to Carolina Beach Police. Reno Jiggetts turned himself in around 4 a.m. Thursday. He was charged with conspiracy to sell/deliver Schedule II Narcotics and Maintaining a Dwelling for Use/Sale.
