BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – It's time to clean out those medicine cabinets! The Bladen County Sheriff's Office and the Bladen County Health Department are teaming up for a medicine drop.

The prescription drug take-back event will allow residents a safe way to get rid of expired or unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications in an effort to protect families, pets and the environment.

According to the sheriff's office, unintentional poisoning from prescription medications is on the rise in North Carolina.

Operation Medicine Drop offers the public a free and safe way for disposing of unwanted medication.

The event will take place Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Bladen County Sheriff's Office on King Street in Elizabethtown, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
