A new seafood restaurant is coming to Aiken.
Catch 231, the newest restaurant in The Alley, will serve fresh seafood starting Thursday.
The restaurant, located at 231 The Alley, will open its doors at 5 p.m. Thursday. It will be open for dinner Monday through Saturday and will feature fresh seafood brought in weekly from Beaufort, S.C.
The restaurant is owned by Dr. Philip Jordan, Jeffery Jordan, and Janice Rodriguez. The three also own and manage Up Your Alley Chophouse across the street from Catch 231. The owners say they saw the need for a local seafood restaurant in downtown Aiken.
"We were hearing feedback from our customers at Up Your Alley Chophouse, and we realized we were selling just as much seafood as we were our New York Strips," Philip Jordan said.
Executive Chef Keith Herron said most of the produce used at Catch 321 will come from within 20 miles of the restaurant. Herron has worked at The Willcox, The Aiken Brewing Company and Houndslake Country Club.
The menu will feature a variety of seafood options, including two daily market fish, stuffed flounder, She Crab bisque, clam chowder, Beaufort Stew/Low Country Boil, clams with a Thai chili sauce, oysters and oyster shooters, crab cakes and more.
The restaurant's slogan, "Reel Fresh," highlights the quality of the seafood served. Along with the fresh fare, Catch 231 will offer a wine list and menu pairings, plus a variety of one-of-a-kind cocktails.
