Month long investigation leads to arrest of alleged cocaine dealer

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office busted a man suspected of being a cocaine dealer.

The Vice and Narcotics Unit and the FBI Safe Street Task Force ended a month long cocaine trafficking investigation with the arrest of Dwayne Lavern Clark. Clark, 40, was arrested after law officers searched three homes and found drugs, guns and money.

Homes located at 110 South Kerr Avenue, 245 Eastwood Road, and 1609 North 26th Street, all in New Hanover County, were searched during the investigation. Law officers found over 1,200 grams of cocaine, which is over 2.5 pounds, three handguns, money, and cocaine manufacturing tools.

Clark was charged with the following:

  • 4 counts of Trafficking Cocaine
  • 2 counts of Maintain Dwelling for controlled substance
  • 2 counts of PWIMSD Cocaine
  • 3 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • 2 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Clark is currently in the New Hanover County Jail under a $1,000,000 secure bond.
