Laney High School Principal Al O'Briant named Ashad Yeoman as Head Varsity Football Coach today, Friday, March 7, 2014. Coach Yeoman currently teaches Career and Technical Education at Laney and has been serving as the football team's defensive coordinator at Laney High School.

Coach Yeoman began his teaching and coaching career at Laney High School in 2008. He is a product of the New Hanover County School System, having attended Snipes Elementary, Blount Elementary, Winter Park Elementary, Noble Middle School, and a graduate from Laney High School in 2002.

Coach Yeoman was a captain on the 2001 Laney High School 4-A State runner up football team. He also played college baseball and football at Catawba College for two years before graduating from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Coach Yeoman holds teaching certifications in physical education, middle grades math and technology. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kristin, who was also a 2002 Laney graduate, and together they have two young children.

Athletic Director Fred Lynch and Principal Al O'Briant are pleased to hire a quality educator and enthusiastic coach with positive ties to Laney High School and the community.
