WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department have arrested a man in connection to the murder of Raequan Rouse in January.
According to police, Torrance Burns was taken into custody Thursday and charged with attempted murder, first degree murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Burns was arrested during a heroin bust early Friday morning.
Burns was in court Friday where he made two appearances. On His second appearance in court, a judge set Burns's bond at $1 million. His next court appearance has been set for March 27.
Rouse, 18, was shot before he was dropped off at the hospital by two people who ran away before they could be detained.
The event report shows that special police chased two people on foot at the hospital but could not catch them.
Rouse was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Burns is expected to make his first appearance in court Friday.
Dominique Olivia Gibbs, 16, was charged in February with first degree murder in connection to the shooting death of Rouse. Gibbs is also being charged as an adult with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and first degree attempted murder.
Ziy'Kerra Lemon was also charged in connection to this case for accessory after the fact of murder.
Detectives are still looking for Adron Whitted for his connection in the Rouse murder. He is wanted for attempted murder, first degree murder and firing into an occupied property.
