Crews respond to house fire in Surf City

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Surf City Fire Department, and other surrounding departments, responded to a house fire around 7 a.m. Friday.

Officials say when crews arrived at the house on Ninth Street, it was on fire. Firefighters say the strong winds made it difficult to fight.

No one was home at the time of the fire, because it is a vacation rental.

Officials say the house is a total loss.
