TAR HEEL, NC (WECT) – Attorneys with United Food Commercial Workers filed charges against Mountaire Farms based out of Tar Hill, for unfair labor practices.

Around 2,000 workers at the poultry plant located in Lumber Bridge, NC are trying to form a union, but North Carolina is a Right to Work State.

The United Food and Commercial Workers are charging Mountaire Farms with disciplining employees for their union activity, threatening to have employees arrested, engaging in surveillance and coercion, interrogating employees, threatening termination and change in personal working conditions if employees support the union.

They say this is all in violation of workers' legal rights under the National Labor Relations Act.
