WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington pet grooming business where a dog was photographed hanging failed numerous state inspections in recent years, according to public records.
Olga's Dog Spa failed six North Carolina Department of Agriculture inspections between 2008 and 2011. Violations included failure to keep proper records and needed repairs to windows, gates and other parts of the facility.
Inspectors found feces on a wood ramp and in the exercise yard in 2010. The report warned that the pet waste was supposed to be removed at least twice a day.
Olga's last inspection was February 2013. Because the business stopped boarding pets last year, it is no longer subject to state inspections.
Olga Glover Littleton, the owner of the business, said the dog pictured in the photo was wearing a harness and was not hurt. She explained the incident happened years ago and was recently posted to the internet by an employee she fired for stealing money from the business.
