Officers shoot, kill dog following attack

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officers with the Wilmington Police Department shot and killed a dog after the canine attacked two people Wednesday evening in the 300 block of Greendale Drive.

According to police, a person approached an officer about the owner of a dog being attacked.

The Wilmington Police Department then requested additional units and went to locate the victim. Officers found the dog attacking a man on the ground. The dog then charged at one of the officers, and as a result, the dog was shot and killed.

Two people were taken to the hospital for their injuries. One person had injuries to the hand and head. The female had injuries to her arm.

The owner of the dog said he had just adopted the dog a month ago and that the dog started showing signs of aggression Wednesday night.
