WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Opera lovers will finally have a local opportunity to see productions performed right in their own backyards.
Opera Wilmington has set up shop in Wilmington and is preparing for the first performance of The Merry Window on July 25.
Opera Wilmington is under the direction of Nancy King and Steven Errante. King will serve as the artistic director and Errante the conductor.
King hopes the new art form will bring the community together in a way like never before.
"This has been a dream for many of us in the Wilmington community for quite some time! The chance to work with wonderful colleagues, bringing together an operatic production during the summer, for an audience that already supports the art form is very exciting. Looking forward to many years making music for the people of Wilmington, by the artists of Wilmington," King said.
The Merry Widow will be performed July 25 – 27.
