OHIO CO,. KY (WFIE) -

14 News was there when authorities arrested a drug suspect they say they've been trying to get off the streets for months.

For the past couple of months, the Ohio County Sheriff's Office, the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, and Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Office have been working to pin down a meth trafficking operation in Ohio and Muhlenberg Counties.

Deputies say they got information someone was moving guns from Kentucky to Chicago, where they were being traded to suspected gang members for meth. They say the meth was then brought back to Ohio and Muhlenberg County where it was sold.

Authorities searched Joseph Lee's home in Cromwell and say they found 28 crams of meth, a gun, drug paraphernalia, and $8,000 in cash.

Lee was arrested and charged with trafficking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear.

"This guy is a bad guy, but more importantly, he's a person of interest in several shootings in Muhlenberg County and Ohio County. We feel that we really need to talk to him on some of those cases," says Ohio County Sheriff David Thompson.

The sheriff's office looked into how much Lee's landlord, Christopher Davis, knew about the criminal activity going on at the property. He was arrested and charged with trafficking in controlled substance and other charges.

Both men are in the Ohio County Detention Center and the investigation is ongoing.
