Chesterfield police seek two men in violent attempted sex assault

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield police need your help tracking down two men wanted in a violent attempted sexual assault. Detectives say the men strangled and punched a woman multiple times. It happened along the 13,000 block of Jeff Davis Highway.

"Somebody saw something," said Charles Willis who is president of the Jeff Davis Civic Association in Richmond. "Folks are fed up, not only in Richmond, but they are fed up in Chesterfield."

Police say a person passing by stopped and scared off the suspects. Police are now looking for that good samaritan.

"This person can help us identify the attackers," said Detective Chris Rizzuti. "They can help us complete an investigation that we really want to get completed quickly and efficiently. This is the kind of thing that we don't want to see becoming a trend in this area."

Willis says he is working with Chesterfield County community leaders to tackle crime along Jeff Davis.

"We've already started some initiatives," said Willis. "We've put out some no prostitution zones."

In the meantime, police and community leaders are all singing the same tune.

"We need a conviction," said Willis. "So that we can send a message from the Jeff Davis community, whether it's Richmond or Chesterfield, that crime doesn't pay."

This case dates back to New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2013. If you have any information call Crime Solvers at 748-0660.
