NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A regional office that serves families of young children with developmental disabilities will close in July.
The Child Developmental Services Agency in Wilmington, serving more than 2,000 families in the Cape Fear region, is one of several offices included in budget cuts by the state.
The office employs 94 people, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services.
Those positions will be lost, but others will be created at the program's new central location at East Carolina University.
Employees at the local office are encouraged to apply to those positions, but they're not guaranteed.
