After being closed for a year, the American Apparel facility in Opp will soon reopen.
Opp Mayor John Bartholomew confirmed the facility will open within two to three weeks. The Opp facility first opened in 2001 and closed in March 2013.
According to a news release from the city of Opp, the facility will manufacture the combat utility uniform trouser for the Marine Corps. It's part of an agreement between American Apparel, Woolrich and DLA Troop Support.
Bartholomew says 50-75 jobs will be available and hopes that number will grow.
According to the news release, the company hopes to hire as many of the previous employees who were laid off as possible.
According to the company's website, American Apparel manufactures combat and utility uniforms for the Department of Defense.
