Techmoja takes powerful look at African-American women's lives

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Techmoja is opening a show that gives people an inside look at the lives of women, particularly African-American women.

The group is performing For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.

It's a series of 20 poems written by Ntozake Shange that express the struggles and obstacles African-American women may face in their lives.

It's told by seven women, each of whom is only known by a color.

The show has been adapted as a book and a film, and it was nominated for a Tony Award for best play.
