Star Gilmer receiver dies

Gilmer athletic director and head football coach Jeff Traylor has confirmed that Buckeyes receiver Desmond Pollard died Sunday afternoon.

Traylor says Pollard was playing basketball in Mesquite with friends when he collapsed on the court.  A cause of death has not been released.

Pollard had a great 2013 season for the Gilmer football team with 15 touchdown catches.

"He's the best receiver I've ever coached," said Traylor.  "He had division one football in his future.  He was such a sweet kid.  Desmond was one of the good ones."
