WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Crowds flocked to the Trask Coliseum on the campus of UNCW for the Police Athletic League (PAL) Crosstown Championship Thursday evening.

A squad from the Brigade Boys and Girls Club faced off with a team from the Community Boys and Girls club. Each team gave it their all, but in the end, the Community Boys and Girls Club took home the trophies.

Officers from the Wilmington Police Department explained that the PAL is designed to keep children away from crime and on the right track to success.

"These kids are determined and if they stay on this path, we're going to see these kids not just on the basketball court, but we're going to see them in college and making a difference both in our streets, maybe in our capital one day," said Officer Brandon Reece.
