WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Opera House Theatre Company has kicked off its 2014 season with a grand-scale musical.
The theater group is performing Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita.
It's based on the life of Eva Peron who left a poverty-stricken village in the 1930s to become an actress and eventually the First Lady of Argentina with a powerful voice in politics.
A narrator named Che takes the audience through the story of Evita's rise to power, charity work and eventual death at the young age of 33.
Evita includes such popular songs as High Flying Adored and Don't Cry for Me, Argentina.
