KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Leaders in Kure Beach are not finished with an ongoing lawsuit that has cost the town more than $270,000 in legal fees.
Town commissioners advised their legal team during a special meeting Wednesday afternoon to continue with the legal battle between the town and Integrity Builders, the former contractor for Kure Beach's Ocean Front Park.
The former contractor sued the Town of Kure Beach roughly a year ago, after being terminated from the project.
The park opened in April 2013, but the legal issue is not resolved.
A public records request shows the town has spent $278,451.27 as of January 31, 2014.
The invoices provided in an earlier request did not specify some of the expenses in an effort to keep attorney-client information from reaching the attorney representing the former contractor.
