WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Crews from around Wilmington are making steady progress with the removal of storm debris from the Feb. 12 ice storm.
Crews with the City of Wilmington and another contracted company have removed nearly 14,500 cubic yards of debris so far. The city estimates that there is 50,000 in total -- enough to fill more than eight football fields -- that needs to be picked up.
The contracted crews will focus on picking up the larger piles of debris while the city's crews will focus on picking up yard debris that is in containers or bags.
