Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Several officers with the Wilmington Police Department are involved in the Police Athletic League (PAL), a basketball program for kids in the Boys and Girls Clubs in the Cape Fear area.

The officers take time to invest in these children in an effort to keep them safe and out of trouble.

Thursday, the kids will have a chance to show off the hard work they've been putting forth all season.

The PAL Crosstown Championship game will take place Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. The Community PAL team will take on reigning champion Brigade PAL team to determine who will take the trophy home this year.

The two all-star teams will play inside UNCW's Trask Coliseum and is free to the public.

To learn more about how you or your child can get involved in the Police Athletic League, you can call Officer Brandon Reece at (910) 520-3852.
