WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The film community is rallying behind the memory of one of their own, to make sure she is remembered for her impact on the set.
Sarah Jones was killed February 20 while working on the film Midnight Rider in Savannah, Georgia.
According to WTOC in Georgia, the crew was filming around railroad tracks when a train came through the area were the crew was working. Seven other crew members were reportedly injured during the deadly accident.
Since her death, film crews across the country and world have placed labels on their film slates remembering Sarah's life. Labels reading, "R.I.P. Sarah Jones" and "Never Forget Sarah Jones" can be found on slates for TV shows and movies.
A Facebook group, Slates for Sarah, was created as a hub to share pictures of slates from around the film community with messages remembering Sarah. After only two days of being created, the group already has over 20,000 likes and over 100 pictures of slates remembering Sarah.
A group is also petitioning to have Sarah added to the Academy Awards memoriam tribute played during the OSCARS.
So far there are already over 40,000 signatures. Click here for more information on the petition: http://bit.ly/1frw3D1
