BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A woman from Brunswick County was arrested twice Saturday morning in connection to two separate DWI charges within a three hour time span.
According to police reports, Veronica Wynita White was first charged just before 2 a.m. after she was caught speeding on Highway 211 near Walmart in Southport.
After failing a breathalyzer test, White was taken to jail and initially booked at 2:44 a.m. White posted bail and was released to an individual at 4:13 a.m. When someone is released to an individual, they are no longer in custody of the jail or the court; therefore, they are free to go.
Then, just 32 minutes later, a Boiling Spring Lakes police officer received a phone call from the magistrate's office with a description of the vehicle and the driver.
That officer pulled her over on Highway 87, where she failed another breathalyzer test. White was arrested again in connection to DWI and booked in jail for the second time at 4:56 a.m.
This time White's car was seized by police because her license had already been revoked.
Under the DWI Seizure Law, if a driver is operating a car with a revoked license from a prior DWI, then the car can be revoked.
