WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officials in Wilmington hope to end the Community Conversation on Gang Violence series on a high note Tuesday night.
The goal of these meetings has been to get input needed to identify short and long term-strategies that can be implemented to help reduce criminal and gun-related violence in the Port City.
The final meeting will focus on the youth and will involve a discussion with them about issues from their perspectives.
A series of recommendations will be generated from these sessions for action by public policy makers, including elected officials and leaders of private corporations and non-profits.
The final community conversation will be at the gymnasium in the MLK Center, located at 401 S. Eighth Street starting at 6 p.m.
The event is hosted by the City of Wilmington, the WPD, Teen Summit, and Shaper Speaks.
