First Alert Weather: Cooling trend begins Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - After a very mild Sunday, we will see temperatures trend down heading into the new work week.  The next shower chance occurs late Tuesday into early Wednesday.

MONDAY:
Behind a weak cool front highs will fall back into the low and mid 60's.  Look for mostly sunny skies with winds shifting back to the southwest at 5-10 mph by afternoon.  Monday night will feature increasing clouds and lows in the mid 30's.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY: Tuesday will feature increasing clouds with highs in the low 60's.  Late Tuesday into early Wednesday a system will move off the coast of Georgia bringing a shot of scattered showers. Another round of very cold air will blast the northeast U.S. but only a piece of this cold air will make it this far south into Wednesday.  Wednesday's high will reach the low 50's with skies clearing late in the day.  Wednesday night will be clear and cold as lows dip into the upper 20's.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: Chilly but dry.  Look for mostly to partly sunny skies with highs in the low 50's.  Lows will be in the mid 30's to near 40.  There is a spot shower (20%) shot late Friday.
