Officers responding to Shot Spotter find an acid bomb instead

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department responding to a Shot Spotter alert late Thursday night find an unexpected discovery when the arrived on scene. WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officers with the Wilmington Police Department were called to respond to a Shot Spotter alert late Thursday night and found an unexpected discovery when they arrived on scene.

Shot Spotter alerted the WPD to one shot fired on Grace Street late Thursday night.

When officers arrived, they found what appeared to be an "acid bomb."

WPD then found several other detonations around the north side of town. Officers also verified another acid bomb on Grace Street.

Police are still investigating.
