Pair of brothers involved in separate shooting incidents in same day

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A pair of brothers were both involved in shooting incidents in Wilmington Thursday.

According to police, officers were called to respond to the 500 block of Taylor Street, which is off Sixth Street, around 4 p.m.

Officers saw a crowd running from a business when they arrived, circled the block and then heard shots fired.

Police said the officers turned onto Love Alley and saw one man running toward them and two running the opposite direction. Officers tried to locate the individuals with no results.

According to police, several shell casings were found on Swann Street and a stolen handgun was recovered from some nearby bushes.

Authorities eventually located the victim, William Point, who explained he was jumped as he was leaving the business and people were shooting at him. Point said he couldn't give a description, but the men got out of a gold, four-door car.

Officers were called to respond to shots fired in the 800 block of Hanover Street around 7:30 p.m.

According to police, officers were advised that Joseph Point was shot in the buttocks and was going to the hospital for treatment. Officers searched and found a pistol in the area.
