SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) –
Southport Alderman have passed a resolution of support for the city's police
This comes in the
aftermath of the case of Detective Bryon Vassey, the Southport Police Officer
who shot and killed a teenager who was suffering from a schizophrenic episode.
The resolution states in
part "The Board of Alderman have the utmost confidence in the integrity of
their chief of police, officers, and staff."
It goes on to state that
the board "wholeheartedly supports the department."
Keith Vidal died when
Vassey shot him last month at his home in Boiling Spring Lakes.
