Jake Fonvielle leaving South Columbus

Posted: Updated:

Tabor City, NC (WECT) – South Columbus High School is looking for a new Athletic Director and football coach. Jake Fonvielle is leaving the school effective March 28th.

Fonvielle, who is a 1997 graduate of South Columbus, was named the school's Athletic Director and Head football coach in January of 2009 after Joey Price left for Wallace-Rose Hill. The Stallions football team hasn't missed a beat under Fonvielle. During his five years on the sideline the Stallions went 45-19, and won four conference championships, including back-to-back trips to the East Finals in 2011, and 2012.

There is no time table set to find a replacement for both positions, but Fonvielle has told the school that he would help anyway that he could.

Fonvielle is leaving education all together as he plans to work for his family business in Tabor City.
