Jeffrey D. Rollins, 55, pastor of First Baptist Church of Springfield passed away Saturday.
Rollins leaves behind his wife Dorothy Sheppard Rollins, 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
Family members share that Jeff was a beloved husband, father, and Papa who served Christ faithfully through his leadership and friendship. He was devoted both to his family and his church family. With his humility and servant hood, Jeff showed us all how a Christian should live. He made a profound impact on his community and world that will be felt for generations to come. He will be missed dearly.
"He would be what I would consider a pillar in the community. He has touched thousands of lives and, you know, it is a big loss to Effingham County and to other people as well. He was a well-loved man, as I said he was a pillar to the community, he touched many lives, and unfortunately he is no longer with us and he will be sorely missed," said David Ehsanipoor, Effingham County Sheriff's Office.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Springfield.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Springfield.
Remembrances may be given to First Baptist Church of Springfield, 1435 Hwy. 119 N., Springfield, GA 31329.
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie has shared the following:
On Feb 15, 2014 at around 5 o'clock in the afternoon Effingham County lost an icon, a brother, a son, a father, a leader, a pastor. Brother Jeff Rollins will be missed so much by his family, his church, and this County. I'm extremely proud to say that Jeff Rollins was my friend. He leaves a void that is never going to heal but will pass. He spent his life telling us about a man that went before us to prepare a place for us and that he will come again and take us onto him. Now Brother Jeff sits with him in his mansions waiting for his family and friends.
Please keep the Rollins Family, Springfield Baptist Church and Effingham County in your prayers as we lay this Brother to rest.
