Firefighters were called into action shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, responding to a garage fire on Southwick Street.
The Agawam Fire Department said that it was a 30 foot by 30 foot garage.
The cause of the blaze has not been determined, and the state fire marshal's office is investigating.
When cameras arrived, the fire was out, but the structure was still smoking.
The fire department said the steep driveway and icy conditions made the location tough to get to.
While the garage is a total loss, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from damaging the house on the property.
They said there was $230,000 in damage, which includes the structure and the contents that were inside.
There were no injuries or loss of life in fighting the fire, and the family that lives at the home was not displaced.
